A Warming Herbal Tea for Daily Wellness – A Carefully Crafted Herbal Tea Blend
Equipment Required;
Chefman Infusion Teapot (or similar infuser teapot)
Ingredients (Initial Preparation)
- Cinnamon sticks – 2 sticks (4″ each) (Sri Lankan cinnamon preferred)
- Licorice root – ½–¾ teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Fresh mint leaves – 2–3 leaves
- Tulsi (Holy Basil) or Indian basil – 2–3 leaves
- Cloves – 2 whole cloves
- Large black cardamom – 1 pod
- Fresh ginger root – 8″ piece
- Fresh turmeric root – 1 small root (4–6″)
- Tap water – fill to maximum level
Preparation Method
- Prepare the ginger: Cut the ginger (do not peel) into small pieces and place it in the infuser.
- Add fresh herbs: Add 2–3 mint leaves and 2–3 basil (tulsi) leaves to the infuser.
- Add spices
- Break the cinnamon sticks into small pieces (use both sticks).
- Add ½–¾ teaspoon licorice root.
- Lightly crush 1 black cardamom pod and add it.
- Add 2 cloves.
- Prepare turmeric: Peel the turmeric root, cut it into small pieces, and add to the infuser.
- Assemble the teapot
Fill the teapot with tap water up to the “Max”
Insert the infuser and cover it with the lid. - Heat the tea to 205°F (96°C).
Important Notes
- Do not heat above 205°F: The maximum temperature setting may be 212°F, but boiling can cause the liquid to spurt out.
- Licorice roots provide natural sweetness. Adjust the quantity depending on how sweet you prefer your tea.
Refill Instructions (After Consuming ~⅔ of the Teapot)
- Refill water to the maximum level and add:
- 1 cinnamon stick (broken into small pieces)
- ¼+ teaspoon licorice root
- 1″ ginger root, chopped
- 1″ turmeric root, peeled and chopped
- 1 clove
- 2 mint leaves
- 2 basil (Tulsi) leaves
- Heat again to 205°F.
Special Tips
- Never drink this tea cold.
- Always reheat tea to your desired warm temperature before drinking.
- Drink the tea hot; keep it in a thermos if traveling.
- The same mixture can be used for up to 48 hours, with refilling and replenishing ingredients as described.
- After 48 hours, clean the teapot thoroughly and restart with fresh ingredients.
