Durga Temple of Westchester, through the tireless efforts of its leadership team – Drs. Pragna Khanna and Prem Rani Singla, Sudarsan Maddur, Promila Saxena, Rinku Singh, and Pankaj Metha has successfully obtained crucial grant funding for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026. Our community deeply appreciates their outstanding leadership and commitment to service.
Our vision is to build bridges with all communities, respecting diverse beliefs while sharing the richness of our culture and civilization. We strive to strengthen bonds between different groups, and the recent grant funding has been instrumental in enhancing our programs for seniors and enriching our cultural events. Thanks to this support, we’ve been able to offer valuable health and wellness programs, computer literacy classes for seniors, and important fraud prevention workshops. We also organized enjoyable and engaging trips for our senior members. The AAPI grant further empowered us to host a vital discussion on “Anti-bias, Hate, and Bullying in Asian Populations.” Our Diwali celebration with the Town of Ardsley in Westchester, NY, was a joyous occasion. Notably, Westchester County, under the leadership of County Executive George Lattimer, held its first-ever Diwali celebration at the County Center. This significant event spearheaded by Durga Temple in collaboration with 21 Hindu organizations and was attended by over 500 people. Durga Temple also brought the community together for a lively “Garba” program. Moreover, our “Helping Hand” initiative continues to provide essential care for our seniors, including rides, groceries shopping, delivering home-cooked meals, and practical assistance for those who are ill or homebound.
