Mission and Vision

The temple is a place of inspiration, meditation, peace and salvation -a place to revitalize ourselves, to clear our minds, to find answers to our prayers and to enjoy the gratification of worship and services.

Our Mission

Temple is an English word for Mandir. Mandir is only a 500-year-old word and is used for Devalya. Devalaya signifies a living space for Devtas Community.
Now a days Mandir signifies a sacred place for Deities, where devotees perform rituals and offer prayers, encourage and facilitate purification of one’s mind, triggering the process of inner reflection and a place of spiritual guidance.

Keeping that in mind, the mission of Durga Temple of Westchester is to serve our community:

  • A place to understand Hindu culture and civilization, learn Indian languages, classical
music dances and Yoga. A place to celebrate spiritual, social and
    cultural events involving our community
  • An environment of mutual respect and love among our community.
  • Understanding the need for contribution to the welfare of our community.
  • Instill a desire to understand Dharma among all ages, improve our lives.
  • A place to learn Hindu culture and civilization, learn Indian languages, classical  music dances and Yoga. A place to celebrate spiritual, social and   cultural events involving our community.
  • Durga Temple strongly believes that all this and more can be achieved with the support of our community.
