Westchester County Executive George Latimer hosted a Spectacular Diwali celebration at the Westchester County Center on November 13, 2024 in collaboration with Hindu Sangathan – The Coalition of Hindu Organizations of Westchester County. The celebration highlighted Diwali’s significance as a festival symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, featuring traditional dance performances, music, cultural presentations, and a taste of Indian cuisine.
Hundreds of Community members gathered to honor the values of hope, light and unity that Diwali represents. This inaugural Diwali celebration, hosted by Westchester County, marked a significant milestone for our community. The county’s kind words of appreciation and warm wishes for a Happy Diwali underscored a genuine commitment to fostering cultural inclusion and unity. George Latimer’s leadership has been instrumental in creating an environment where all communities feel valued and celebrated.
