Maa Durga Library
A Sanctuary Dedicated to Intellectual Growth and Communal Engagement
We are delighted to announce the inauguration of the Maa Durga Library at the Durga Temple of Westchester, which opened its doors on January 1, 2026. This library is believed to be among the first of its kind within a temple in the New York area, and possibly even in the United States. It stands as a unique and meaningful initiative devoted to learning, reflection, and community enrichment.
The library has been generously dedicated to the community by Mrs. Kamla Dhiman and Dr. Om Dhiman. At present, the Maa Durga Library houses over 150 brand-new books, including a rich selection of titles for children. This collection marks only the beginning of a larger vision.
Plans are already underway to further enhance the library by creating a comfortable reading and seating area, installing computers, and significantly expanding the collection. Future additions will include books and journals on Sanatan Dharma, geopolitics, Indian history, and the works of great spiritual thinkers and leaders such as Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo.
Community members are warmly invited to borrow books by registering in the library logbook. Suggestions for new titles are highly encouraged and will be thoughtfully considered and accommodated as the library continues to grow.
